“A special group of IMB workers are celebrating a new stage of life today – their official retirement… Pray for clear direction and empowerment for them in their new places of service in communities very different from the ones they left years ago and very different from the places around our world where they have made their homes in recent years,” which for some have been for 30 or more years.

Pray for workers in Mozambique as they refine “several Bible story lessons to try to rid any ambiguities before national partners teach solo.” Pray for these national partners as they share God’s Word among their people who are very spiritually sensitive, but controlled by fears of evil spirits and other teachings which do not allow them to truly obey and worship the true God.

From workers in West Africa: Imagine a 20+ hour road trip on… the worst imaginable… road with no rest stops, no wal-marts for forgotten items (diapers, baby food, snacks, water, etc), no restrooms, no fast food restaurants and no hotels with pillows, towels or other basic amenities and you'll get an idea of how we roll when we do the ol' vacay and why our truck was filled to the brim… but a week on the beach in 20 degree cooler weather making memories with our 3 kids is totally worth it!

Shared by CTMET Cape Town Prayer Group: “There are days that are frustrating when working in the refugee ministry because I can do nothing to get them their asylum papers other than tell them where to go… so many refugee friends need documentation, jobs, shelter, and food… pray to our Father that He will provide all their needs” and that they will “draw closer to God.”

Not sure why, but as other kids were in class, these two were outside playing. Many missionary kids in Sub-Saharan Africa are enjoying a term break from boarding school this month. Pray for renewal and lots of fun times as they catch up on sleep and enjoy favorite foods, family time and special activities at home.

April 8, 2014

Pray for God's children as they study how to explain and declare the news that God’s salvation has been sent to their people.  Pray that their peoples’ hearts will be open like the hearts of these children and be ready to “see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts,” and be convinced and believe in Jesus. (Acts 28:23-28)

How did missionaries in rural Zambia prevent getting stuck the next time they traveled to a church on the other side of a swamp? They went to the ‘city’ and bought boots, rain pants and jackets. Now they drive as far as they can without getting stuck, put on rain gear and bike the rest of the way to church. “All of this may seem extreme, but it is a small price to pay for the Word of God to go forth in life changing power!”

April 3, 2014

From new workers in West Africa: "5 times a day, every day, we hear the call to prayer. Every day, we see people just like our neighbor stopping their activities to pray. 'The call to prayer' here, reminds us every day to pray for those who have never heard the good news. Thank you for joining with us!"

Shared on the COMPASSION NET* Facebook page for the Jahanka people of Senegal, Guinea and the Gambia: "Pray for… two brothers about 20 years old who have chosen to follow Christ and were recently baptized. Some obstacles faced by workers among Unreached Peoples bring smiles. Others bring heartbreak such as when local leaders blocked missionaries from ministering in their village. How can you support these missionaries? Pray that the gospel gains a strong foothold in a neighbouring village where they can minister and that these villagers will take the gospel into the ‘forbidden territory.’
