Workers in South Africa praise God for a time of worshipping yesterday with Burundian refugees; refugees who are learning English (needed for school and jobs in their adopted country). Pray for those with hungry minds and hearts also for Bible study, including 10% of the men in the congregation who are receiving ministerial training.

2, 826 people groups are found in Sub-Saharan Africa, with a population of 862 million within Africa and around the world. Did you know that 1,850 of these Peoples have not yet responded to or been reached by a proclamation of our Lord’s salvation, a declaration of his glory and marvelous deeds? (Psalm 96:1-3)  http://subsaharanafricanpeoples.imb.org/explore

“IMB missionaries recount terrorists’ seizure of Nairobi mall”is not just one more current news report; it shares how “Sometimes living in the center of God’s will is dangerous... But God is good… God will use this to bring glory to Himself, which He always does.” It is also provides nudges to prayer for this and other crises.

Not sure how to pray for missionaries today? Pray for rain. Today some workers among SSAPeople cannot travel to a planned spot to share the good news of our “LORD, the spring of living water” (Jer 17:13 NIV). In other parts of Africa, workers must delay ministry to haul their drinking, cooking and bathing water due to a lack of rain!

September 26, 2013

From planners of the Urban Strategy Conference (Sep 8-20): Thank you for your prayers… We felt the Lord's presence during our time together... Some were challenged to love their city… not just "endure" without really loving it. Some left with a fresh vision and new ideas, all left with resources and encouragement. Continue praying for the urban centres across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Last week 52 IMB workers were recognized for 1,357 years of service! At least 270 of these years were served among Sub-Saharan African Peoples. As you thank God for their service, would you pray for those responding to the continuing need for workers in our Father's Harvest Fields around our world?
Take a few moments to read Emeritus missionaries remember struggles, victories.* The first ‘memory’ is shared by a worker who served 27 years among Sub-Saharan African Peoples!

September 24th Evening Update

As many have guessed or knew, the one preparing the Nudges to Action for SSAPeoples lives very close to the Westgate Mall and was sharing from personal experience. THANK YOU for your prayers. You have definitely reaffirmed my belief in FB and social media being incredible prayer tools! I have just shared the following on my personal FB page:

Praising God tonight. Kenya has been waiting all day for trustworthy news that the siege is over and it finally was shared by President Kenyatta a few minutes ago. Blasts and shooting continued throughout the day until after four this afternoon, but we now know that we've also been hearing floors collapsing in the mall and explosives being defused. Please continue praying for physical, emotional and spiritual healing for all affected, including one good friend, a pastor, whose cousin is still missing.

September 24, 2013

Praising God today that at least 10,000 people spotted yesterday’s posts on Facebook about the ongoing siege of Westgate Mall, which led to thousands and thousands of people praying immediately for the need! Thank you for praying. Our God hears and He is responding! Continue praying for physical, emotional and spiritual healing for the thousands affected by this disaster.

Urgent Prayer Request

Urgent Prayer Request for the situation at the Westgate Mall in Nairobi, Kenya. After security forces made some progress late yesterday afternoon/early evening, it was a quiet night. Things began changing at 6 this morning as security forces sought a final thrust at securing the mall and rescuing the remaining hostages. After a series of blasts within the last 30 minutes, huge clouds of smoke are billowing from a section underground behind the Mall. Please pray for safety for any hostages still in the Westgate Mall and for security forces surrounding and in the mall.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV) Pray that Believers will always share their Father’s desire for ALL peoples to understand and claim His gift of Eternal Life – even those who are causing chaos today in Nigeria, Rwanda, Kenya, DRCongo and other Sub-Saharan African countries.
Nudges to prayer for Sub-Saharan African Peoples and their countries can be found at http://allafrica.com/.

A peaceful view, but the sounds heard in this neighborhood since mid-day yesterday have not been! The flat roof in the background is the Westgate Mall (Nairobi, Kenya) which is still under attack by people now reported as terrorists. Please pray for God’s peace and comfort for all involved. Pray for changed hearts and open ears and eyes to the true source of peace.

SSAP September Prayer Focus - KANURI of Nigeria and Niger:  For more than 1000 years, the Kanuri have believed their faith offers the ‘Way of Peace,’ yet today many question the lack of peace in their lives.  Pray that they will come to know the true peace offered by the Prince of Peace.

Great tool for Nudges to Prayer for SSAPeoples - www.weather.com/! Will today’s weather affect your ‘heart’ People and workers among them? Will the road be passable for those going to share God's Word? Are those in need of the Gospel too chilled or damp to sleep – as were those with no homes or poor housing in Cape Town last night!
Update posted on FB as response to this 'Nudge to Prayer' by a worker among SSAPeoples:  "Yes. No trip to a neighbouring unreached People this weekend because of rains."

From new workers among Unreached Peoples: “In the midst of the health scare… you don't really think, you just act… I posted on social media about my hubby’s' sickness… we needed support and prayer. I had no idea the flood of love and compassion that was to envelop us.  From thousands of miles away people cared for us…  A fear as we moved to Africa was being forgotten… THANK YOU.  We have not been alone in this dark time.”

September 17, 2013

Update from Urban Strategies conference:  “Thank you for praying. God is at work… We've been challenged to think new thoughts and to seek God's vision for our Sub-Saharan Africa cities…  Pray for participants firming-up action plans for reaching their cities with the gospel, discipling new believers, and blessing their cities with the love and care of Christ.”

For weeks, a believer watched the woman finger prayer beads while murmuring. The woman explained that each of the 99 beads represented a name of God, saying these names over and over might convince God to let her in heaven. Take a few moments to read “Tipping the Scale”* and join the Believer in praying for the woman. * http://www.imb.org/main/news/details.asp?StoryID=12316&LanguageID=1709#.UiSjYTZmim4

‘On the road again’ or in the air again – what many MKs (Missionary Kids) or as they are now known, TCKs (Third Culture Kids), are doing this weekend as they head to RVA (Rift Valley Academy) in Kenya for a new school year.  Pray for safe travel and for easy adjustment for new students and their families.
