How are missionaries in Africa reacting to the deadly tornado in Oklahoma?  They are using phones and the internet to learn the news and to communicate with family and friends.  They are thanking God for the improving phone and internet services which allows them to connect with those they love.

Update of May 13th request from Lugbara Team: “The Nebbi women's training turned out different than expected... the leaders from the churches were not in unity and the women were waiting at another church for us… the trainers spent Monday meeting with the leaders and helping them talk to each other and forgive each. Pray these folks will choose to live by the Truth.”

May 17th prayer/Final day of 40/40:  Pray for safety as participants travel home today.  Pray for rest for everyone - especially the staff.  Pray that participants will take all that they learned during 40/40 and apply it to their place of service.  Pray for them as they adjust to living in their new countries and learn a new language.   (More on 40/40 ‘experiential’ orientation shared on April 18, 23, 30; May 7 and 10.)

A Hands On* ministry among an Unreached People was rained out. So the team joined the Nairobi University Students Mission Ministry in door to door evangelism in a reached area. May 10th Prayer for 40/40: Participants begin their Zambian homestay today thru the 13th. Pray for good cultural learning, good health, and opportunities to practice everything they have learned during 40/40; for understanding as they try to communicate with one another; for good nights of sleep; for strength as they work alongside their new Zambian family… whether they are eating, cooking, sleeping, or working in the field. A lady from the community of Hawane received the BGR bucket*… she had sores on her feet due to diabetes… taking the vitamins and using the soap and ointment… the sores started to heal… she is able to walk again… pray for the BGR bucket ministry in Swaziland as lives are being touched.”

Last month a missionary and Ugandan Believers re-visited a group  of men trained earlier. “We interviewed 16 people who were trained by the Lugbara and Alur we trained in February. They were able to clearly tell the story of Jesus heals the man with evil spirits. We praise the Lord for their obedience.” More on this story shared on Feb 16,17, 20 &24.

In many African countries, government workers are assigned jobs far from home, thus Believers from Reached areas are sent to areas of Unreached Peoples.  Pray for these Believers to be bold ambassadors of their Father’s love and salvation in areas where ‘missionaries’ may not be welcomed.

Update on April 7th post on recording 100 Bible stories for solar audio players: “I am continually amazed at how culturally relevant the Old Testament is to the Toposa of South Sudan… Joshua’s charge(Joshua 23) is very similar to the speech a Toposa man might give to his family or village. Pray for this project to be done well and help every Toposa understand God’s Word!"

Pray for a former teacher of another faith as he is tested for accepting our precious faith (2 Peter 1:1).  Pray that his “faith… may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed” (1 Peter 1:7) to those of his past faith who have detained him.
